Virbac has announced that Syvazul BTV 8, a vaccine for immunisation of sheep and cattle against Bluetongue Virus Serotype 8 (BTV8), is now available in the UK. With the risk of Bluetongue remaining a significant concern, the vaccine comes at a crucial time as farmers prepare for the
peak midge season.
Vaccination against BTV8 remains the most effective tool for reducing clinical signs and lowering viral load within a herd or flock,
says the firm.
The vaccine is authorised for use in sheep and cattle to prevent viraemia and reduce disease impact. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation and carries a zero day withdrawal period.
